Clipping Paths
A clipping path
is a way of isolating an object from the image background. The clipping
path can be used in one of two ways: to select the image so you can copy
and paste it where you need it OR to hide the background when the
object is imported into a page layout program.
The clipping paths included with the images on the CD have been created in such a way as to eliminate the white halo which often accompanies objects on a white background.
The flatness level
of the clipping path is what determines how smooth the edge will be when
the image is output. Settings of 1 to 5 device pixels are typical
settings. Lower numbers will give a smoother path. The flatness
level of the images on the CD is 3. If you want to change the settings
in Adobe Photoshop®, open the image, select Window, Show Paths.
Then in the paths palette, select Clipping Path and change the device pixels
to what you need.
